How long do Oh Crap bags take to break down?

Stored properly, the bags last at least 12 months from purchase. Keep them somewhere cool and dry, out of direct light and they'll be fine.

Once you've picked up and tied off, they're designed to start breaking down in composting conditions. Oh Crap bags are certified AS 5810 (home composting) and AS 4736 (commercial composting).

In a commercial facility, 90% of the bag breaks down within 12 weeks and is fully biodegraded within 6 months. Home composting takes a little longer, but they'll return to the earth far faster than any plastic bag. Nothing nasty left behind.

Can I put them in my home compost?

Yes. Oh Crap bags are certified AS 5810 for home composting.

One thing to note — we don't recommend composting pet waste in bins you use for food scraps. Use a separate bin and put the finished compost on ornamental gardens, not the veggie patch.

How many bags come in a roll?

Do they fit standard bag dispensers?

Will they work for big dogs?

Definitely. Our standard bags measure 23cm x 33cm — one of the largest available in Australia.

Combined with the 3x thickness, they handle whatever your dog produces.

How should I store them?

Cool, dry place out of direct light. Stored right, they'll last at least 12 months.

If a roll gets wet on a walk, you have about 30 days to use it up before the composting process starts to kick in.

The bags are designed to be durable in everyday use. Not sitting in a puddle.

Can they be used for all pet waste?

Absolutely. Cat litter, rabbit pellets, bird droppings.
